Has your pooch got his own pet dog bed? I have always been ok with dogs as long as they know their place in the pecking order and as I was the boss that they would stay outside with all of the other animals.

That was my plan before I got my own dog, I had grown up on a sheep farm where dogs were not pets they had to work to keep the sheep in line to earn their keep.

This all changed when I moved into suburbia and we decided to get a little dog.  I just can’t explain it my little muffett has us both wrapped around one of her little cute paws.  We are running around between us appeasing this little miss’s every whim.

I had to start being more firm with her as she was ruling the roost, the crunch came when we would look to go to bed at night only to find our pooch beat us to there and was lying in prime position between my husband and me.  Needless to say this was a real passion killer and this needed to be rectified asap.

In the morning I got online and typed in pet dog bed, to my surprise there was site after site offering every type of pet bedding starting with an orthopaedic bed which I believe is one of the newest types of beds on the market, remember we are talking dog beds!  We purchased a similar bed for ourselves some 6 months previously when I was experiencing back problems and at the time of our visit to our family doctor he advised me to consider changing my bed to a more supportive orthopaedic type to support our backs and cradle our body shape as we sleep, vets also suggest this type of bedding for all of their furry friends. Maybe our dog was giving our bed a test run to see if it suited her!

The beds that we viewed are in a similar shape to the dog’s body and can be personalised for the perfect size for your puppy. The main selling feature is that it is meant to provide firm support so your dog doesn’t sink in and sleep in an unsupported position, heaven forbid couldn’t have that could we? In this particular bed the correct spinal alignment is achieved and the dog will have less back pain when they get up from lying down.

This allows for your dog to get a more restful sleep so his body can repair itself better.  And like the human commercial states can bound out of bed in the morning feeling totally refreshed having a stretch and a scratch to start the day.

I came across more choices in the way of a type of luxury memory foam, this has a firm foam centre to provide a similar type of support as in the orthopaedic range but the doggy day bed has memory foam.  Here the dog’s body will be cradled just like he would be in your arms holding him just in the right places while he sleeps away blissful in his own little world and the foam will remember his favourite positions.

In my mind’s eye I can see my dog open just one eye making sure everything is right before drifting back to a peaceful sleep yet once again.  Just how pampered are these pooches I can tell you right now the dogs on the farm would snigger to see their soft city slicker dogs getting this wonderful treatment, “it’s enough to make them sooks” they would say!

It seems a lot of people do spend the time like I was doing buying the right kind of bedding for their dogs after all pets become like one of your children, and it is obvious by what is on the net there is a huge demand for pampering pooches with all sorts of accessories, not only restricted to beds.

I was already up to the last site on the 1st page of Google when I saw one of the softest looking dog beds which are covered in a fabric similar to sheep’s wool or more like a polar fleece. The combination of the fabrics gives the bed a soft cushioning for every part of your pets body.

The beauty of the covers is that they are warm in the winter and will not overheat your animal in the heat of summer.  The dog bed is it is totally washable and every bit of the canine couch can be washed.  If you need to move the bed outside make sure that the dog’s bed has the vinyl on the bottom this way if will not pull on the material at all when you go to move it around.

Looks like I will be sharing my bed for the last time tonight as I anxiously wait for the delivery of the dog bed ordered on line from the newly opened dog boutique shop over the other side of town.  I can’t wait not to be sharing my side of the bed with her, and besides she snores!
